Artist's Description
Our parks are nurseries for young birds. Many species gather at this lake in Eagle Lake Park and other nearby parks to raise their young. Interestingly most of these Wading Birds are born white and as they mature they develop distinguishing colors. It's thought that the white color helps them fit into the large flock that gathers as it is difficult to tell the difference between young white birds. The morning gathering creates quite the noise as everyone fights for a favorite spot. Florida's Wood Storks are, in fact, a kind of vulture. Once they have grown, the lake becomes very peaceful with only a few birds. Most of the wading birds were nearly extinct up until fairly recently, because of DDT. Now a place like this park is home to hundreds of birds. A success story. Please note that the watermark will not appear on your final print.
About L Bosco
I love to tell stories. About twenty years ago I had my first freelance travel article accepted by a magazine. Much to my surprise, the magazine expected photos along with words. I had not taken any during the preliminary work for my article. I drove back to the site and took the photos for the article with my little Olympus digital camera. The article was published with those very amateur photos. In time, I bought an Olympus OMD-EM5, a great camera for nature and travel photographers and discovered that I enjoyed telling stories with pictures more than I did with words. The last twenty year have been an incredibly exciting time as resources for photographers have exploded. I have been lucky enough to have some great teachers along the way...
