Description
This Class B Climax steam-powered locomotive hauled lumber for the Biltmore Estate. It was manufactured in 1914. Approximately 17 Climax locomotives survive in North America today. All Climax locomotives were built by the Climax Manufacturing Company of Corry, Pennsylvania. Production began in 1888 and ended in 1928. Between 1000 and 1100 were built. The Cradle of Forestry is home to historic buildings and describes the history of sustainable forestry.
